Approach

The Striving for Best Practice in Manufacturing program is a pathway to professional development and supports efforts to enhance excellence in Australia’s manufacturing industries.

Established in 1994 by RMIT University’s Centre for Manufacturing, this innovative program has been developed by experienced educators and industry practitioners for aspiring managers working in Australia’s manufacturing and associated industries.

The program is offered part time over a four-month period and comprises classroom sessions presented by an experienced educator and manufacturing specialist;  presentations by guest industry practitioners and a series of site visits.

The sessions adopt a practical, hands-on approach varying from the presentation of concepts and interactive classroom forums involving the sharing of experiences, to demonstrations, simulation activities and follow-up workplace exercises.

The program fee includes:

  • all course books, study notes and reference materials, including a comprehensive Program Manual and additional notes and supporting attachments provided at each session
  • access to a library of books and other reference materials
  • additional telephone support from the program presenter’s ‘help line’ to assist participants with assessment tasks
  • a series of informative industry site visits
  • presentations by a range of guest speakers
