Sessions

There are 20 sessions in the Striving for Best Practice in Manufacturing program.  The structure of these sessions incorporate adult learning techniques such as:  

Key Concepts
a discussion of themes and concepts related to best practice.

Workshop Activities
simulation activities and demonstrations that put concepts into practice in a safe learning environment.

Workplace Exercises
gaining experience in the practices taught and a deeper understanding of how to implement best practice in the real world.

Anecdotal
gaining an overview of a topic by listening to personal accounts and looking at case studies.

Session themes

Each session will have a Best Practice theme that incorporates key concepts for achieving organisational excellence. Session themes will include:

  • Measuring operational performance
  • Planning and managing improvement
  • Value streams & production systems
  • Managing people & resources
  • Managing variation & process capability
  • Standardisation in the workplace
  • Process technology & product development

The outcome from each session is an understanding of the key concepts and the range of approaches that may be taken to implement and move towards Best Practice.
